When accessing the Audiences section to compose a new audience, the creation process shows a read-only flag, like so:

To remove the read-only flag, make sure the 鈥�Profile Management鈥� permissions in AEP contain the 鈥�Manage Merge Policies鈥� privilege. This will result in the disappearance of the flag:
