Inability to split audiences using “Compose Audience” in ۶Ƶ Experience Platform Segment Builder

When an audience split doesn’t populate into two equal parts, confirm that the base audience is fully populated before initiating a split. Remember that populating split audiences involves a multi-day process, and given the multi-day timeline, plan your segmentation activities with sufficient lead time to accommodate these processing stages.

Issue

When attempting to split an audience into two equal parts using the Compose Audience feature in ۶Ƶ Experience Platform, the intended split didn’t populate into two equal parts, causing delays and necessitating alternative solutions.

The resulting split audiences remain unpopulated for several days as a result.

Resolution resolution

To successfully utilize the Compose Audience feature for splitting audiences, follow these guidelines:

  • Confirm that the base audience is fully populated before initiating a split. This is crucial for the subsequent steps to function correctly.

  • Be aware that populating split audiences involves a multi-day process:

    • Day 1: The Audience Orchestration audience membership data is written to an internal dataset. The split audiences may remain un-populated, even though the normal daily evaluation has taken place.
    • Day 2: The above information is transferred into the Profile store when the daily segmentation occurs.
    • Day 3: Activation occurs from the Profile Snapshot.
  • Given this multi-day timeline, plan your segmentation activities with sufficient lead time to accommodate these processing stages.

    • Note: It’s ideal to test this Audience Composition scenario in a lower environment, prior to using this in Production, in order to fully understand the process and timing.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure that your audience splits are executed smoothly and within expected timeframes.
