Fix content tree sorting in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Manager
When a directory in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Manager (AEM) exceeds 1,000 folders, sorting behavior changes unexpectedly. Modify the query configuration to restore alphabetical sorting.
Description description
Environment
- Product: ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service - Assets
- Environment Type: Production
- Applicable Scenario: Directories containing more than 1,000 folders
Issue/Symptoms
- Folders are sorted by creation date instead of name.
- Only the most recently created folders are visible.
- The Load more  functionality is replaced by query-based sorting.
Resolution resolution
Note:
- Reducing the folder count below 1,000 will revert sorting to natural repository order.
- Always back up configurations before making changes.
- Test changes in a lower environment before applying them to production.
To restore alphabetical sorting:
- Navigate to
/libs/dam/gui/content/assets/jcr:content/contenttree/datasource
within your AEM instance. - Overlay this node and modify its configuration to set
sortName
toname
. For steps, refer to Overlays in AEM as a Cloud Service.
