When you use the test Visa credit card number 4111 1111 1111 1111 in PayPal’s Sandbox, the payment fails due to fraud detection policies. You’ll see this error:

Error happened when processing the request. Please try again later.

Cause

You see this error when PayPal flags a specific test credit card number for fraud. This usually happens because the number is widely used by developers around the world to test PayPal APIs.

Resolution resolution

Use a different test credit card. To generate mock credit cards for testing:

  1. Go to the PayPal Developer Portal .
  2. Log in to your PayPal Developer Dashboard.
  3. Click Generate Credit Card to create a new test card.
