Fix identity activation failures in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Platform

When activating identities to a destination in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Platform (AEP), ACTSVC-8104-401 Authentication error cause activation failures. This leads to incomplete dataflow runs and prevents some identities from being pushed successfully. To fix the error, check your authentication credentials, verify destination permissions, and reprocess failed identities in future dataflows.

Description description

Environment

ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Platform

Issue/Symptoms

  • Profiles are received and processed successfully, but some identities fail activation.
  • Error message: ACTSVC-8104-401 Authentication error reported while pushing events to the destination. Please check authentication credentials and try again.
  • Dataflow runs show incomplete or failed statuses across different batches.
  • Failed identities are not retried after multiple system attempts (up to five retries).
  • Excluded identities aren’t stored for automatic reactivation in future runs.

Resolution resolution

To fix authentication errors, follow these steps:

  1. Verify the authentication credentials used for the destination setup. Make sure the tokens or credentials are valid, correctly applied, and match the sandbox environment.
  2. Check for authorization issues on the destination side. Confirm that the destination accepts data from your sandbox and that there are no restrictions or recent changes to token configurations or permissions.
  3. Retry activation for the failed identities manually or include them in future dataflow runs. Please note that these identities aren’t stored automatically for retry and must be included in future dataflows.
  4. Monitor future dataflow runs for similar errors and adjust your configuration as needed to prevent further failures.
