“You do not have permission to view this proof” error in Workfront
You see the error message You do not have permission to view this proof  when you try to access a proof through a New Proof email or a direct URL. This happens when you’re not included in the document’s sharing permissions or there’s an issue with your profile in ProofHQ. To fix this, check the document’s sharing settings and verify your user details in ProofHQ.

You see the error message You do not have permission to view this proof  when you try to open a proof from a New Proof email or a direct URL.
- You click a link in a New Proof email and see the error.
- You open a direct URL to the proof and see the error.
Resolution resolution

If you’re using a link from an email notification, make sure the email wasn’t forwarded to you. Proof links are user-specific, so only the original recipient can access them.

Check the document’s sharing permissions in Workfront:
- Open the Document in Workfront and go to Document Details.
- Click Share to view the sharing list. Look for your name, including under Inherited Permissions.
- If you don’t see your name, ask the document owner to add you to the sharing permissions. You’ll be able to access the proof once you’re added.

Verify your contact details in ProofHQ (admin access required):
- Go to Main Menu
>
Proofing, then click Contacts in the sidebar. - Search for your name and check that your email matches your Workfront profile.
- Make sure there’s only one entry for you. If you find duplicates, contact Customer Support to fix them.
- Go to Main Menu
If you still see the error or find duplicate contacts, contact Customer Support and provide:
- Your name and email address
- The link you’re using to access the proof
