HTTPS links incorrectly flagged as broken in AEM Link Checker

In ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS), valid HTTPS links added to the Rich Text Editor (RTE) get incorrectly flagged as broken by the Link Checker. To fix this, you can add a trailing slash to the URL, switch to HTTP, or configure the Link Checker to exclude trusted domains.

Description description

Environment

  • Product:  ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) - Sites
  • Environment: Ìý±Ê°ù´Ç»å³Ü³¦³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô

Issue/Symptoms

  • AEMaaCS Link Checker flags valid external HTTPS links as broken in the Rich Text Editor (RTE).
  • Some external sites return unexpected responses (such as a 404 error) when accessed without a trailing slash, causing valid HTTPS links to be incorrectly flagged as broken.
  • This behavior started after AEMaaCS switched from using HEAD requests to GET requests for link validation.

Resolution resolution

To address this issue, follow these steps:

  1. As a temporary workaround, add a trailing slash (/) at the end of external URLs flagged as broken.
  2. For long-term resolution, update the Link Checker configuration to exclude trusted external domains that trigger false positives.

Refer to the Link Checker documentation for guidance on configuring link checking in AEM.
