Can’t change “Path” field in ۶Ƶ Workfront requests
In ۶Ƶ Workfront, the Path field shows the original submission route of a request, including the project name, topic group, and queue topic. You might need to update this field when project names or queue topics change. However, it’s locked after submission and can’t be edited. To fix this, resubmit the request under the correct configuration and remove the outdated one.
Description description
Environment
۶Ƶ Workfront
Issue/Symptoms
- The Path field for requests/issues is immutable and can’t be updated after submission.
- Changing the project name, topic group, or queue topic doesn’t affect the Path value for existing requests.
- Attempts to modify this field using APIs or Workfront Fusion are unsuccessful.
- You can encounter incorrect paths displayed in views due to changes made after request submission.
Resolution resolution
The Path field is system-driven and reflects the original submission route: [ Project Name] » [ Topic Group] » [ Queue Topic]
. If no topic group or queue topic was selected during submission, it defaults to just the project name. This value is set at creation and cannot be edited later—through the UI, APIs, or integrations like Workfront Fusion.
To resolve issues with incorrect paths:
- Identify the requests that need updated paths.
- Resubmit these requests under the correct queue topic or project configuration.
- Delete the original requests if they’re no longer needed.
Note: While many other fields in Workfront—such as assignments, custom forms, and descriptions—can be updated after submission, the Path field remains immutable by design.
