Copy/edit an activity when using workspaces section_45A92E1DD3934523B07E71EF90C4F8B6

A workspace lets an organization assign a specific set of users to a specific set of properties. In many ways, a workspace is similar to a report suite in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Analytics.

NOTE
Workspaces are part of the Properties and Permissions functionality available as part of the Target Premium solution. They are not available in Target Standard without a Target Premium license.

If you are part of a multi-national organization, you might have a workspace for your European web pages, properties, or sites and another workspace for your American web pages, properties, or sites. If you are part of a multi-brand organization, you might have a separate workspace for each of your brands.

For more information about workspaces and the Enterprise User Permissions functionality, see Enterprise User Permissions.

If you have Enterprise User Permissions enabled in your environment, you can copy activities to the same workspace or to another workspace. You cannot currently move an activity from one workspace to another. To copy an activity to another workspace, from the Activities page, click the More Actions icon ( More Actions icon ) next to the activity that you want to copy then click Copy.

Consider the following information when using the copy/edit functionality with workspaces:

  • If you copy an activity within the same workspace or from the default workspace to a non-default workspace, the Activity Wizard automatically opens. In cross-workspace copies, you might only need to update the activity properties.

  • When an activity is copied from a non-default workspace to another workspace (whether default or non-default) the Activity Wizard opens, and some manual input is required to complete the setup:

    • Properties: Properties might differ between workspaces. This situation might trigger a warning:

      • In the Form-Based Experience Composer, warnings are displayed directly within the user interface for immediate visibility.

        Form-Based workspace warning

      • In the VEC, warnings are visible when you click Configure > Properties.

        vec-warning

To resolve this issue, click Add/Remove so that only the properties available in the destination workspace are displayed for selection.

    • Audiences and offers: When copying an activity to a new workspace, all associated Target or ad hoc audiences and offers from the original workspace are duplicated using the format: <Entity Name> Copy <Date> for Target audiences and for ad hoc offers <Entity Name>.

      Behavior details:

      • Copied audiences and offers do not appear in the Audiences and Offers lists until the activity is saved and reopened.
      • These entities cannot be edited immediately after copying. Customers might see empty content in the VEC for these items during the initial edit session.
      • Customers can replace copied audiences or offers with others from the destination workspace if needed.

This process ensures smoother cross-workspace activity duplication while maintaining flexibility for customization.

When copying an activity, non-target audiences, and offers that are not saved in either the current workspace or the default workspace must be manually replaced.

Manually replacing these non-target audiences, and offers ensures that only valid, accessible entities are used in the copied activity and prevents errors during editing or delivery.

NOTE
If your environment does not have the Enterprise User Permissions functionality enabled, all activities open in edit mode before copying.
