Managing issues is an important responsibility of the project manager and those assigned to work on the issues.

Manage issue assignments. In this video you will learn how to assign an issue, find an issue assignment, update progress on issues, and update the issue status. Assign an issue. There are several ways to assign issues in Workfront. Go to the issues section on a project or task. And click into the assignments field to activate the inline editing. Then enter the name of a user, users, or a team that should complete the work. You can also use inline editing when viewing issues on a Workfront report. You can click the name of an issue, either on a report or in the issues section of a project or task. Then go to the assignments section in the header. And make the assignment. Don鈥檛 forget to click the save button after entering a user or a team name. Find an issue assignment. You鈥檒l find issues assigned to you in the work list in Home. If you want, you can use the filter menu to narrow down the list so you鈥檙e only viewing issues. When an issue is assigned to a team, it appears in the team request section of the team page. You can get there by clicking on the team name. A team member can click on the work on it button to accept the assignment, or a team lead can click on the reassign icon to give the request to a specific person. Issues assigned to the team also appear on the workload balancer section. This allows team leads and others to see what team members are working on before they assign the work. Drag and drop the work from the unassigned area to the team member鈥檚 calendar to assign it. Depending on how your organization has Workfront set up, you may also see issues assigned to you or your team on a report that is part of a dashboard. Update progress on issues. In the Home area, and in other places where you can open an issue, you and your team members can post updates and log hours on issues to provide visibility into the work being done and keep everyone involved updated on the work鈥檚 progress. Because there are multiple ways to post updates in Workfront, follow your team鈥檚 specific directions regarding the recommended way that works with your system configurations and workflows. Updates and hours can be posted on the issue from Home. Click New updates to post a comment. When you comment on an issue, you can direct the message to other users or teams using the At name feature. From the Home area, you can click on the issue name to open it in the project and record your information there. Anyone with view access to the issue is able to subscribe to it, which sends them a notification each time an update comment is made on the issue. You do not get notifications when hours are logged, the status changes, or other edits are made. Update the issue status. In addition to posting comments or logging hours, don鈥檛 forget to change the status of the issue to indicate you鈥檙e working on it. And then change it again to indicate work is complete. An issue is considered unresolved when the status hasn鈥檛 been updated to complete or an equivalent. Unresolved issues prevent the task it鈥檚 associated with from being marked as done, as well as the project status from being set to complete.
